The Storage and Customer Options tab provides the user with the ability to change the location of the ‘Storage.xml’ file which contains all of the policy configuration information as well as enter the license information for the product. The licensing section also provides you the ability to configure the email to be sent if/when the license limit has been exceeded.

Storage and Customer Options

To Display the bt-WebFilter Properties Page

  1. Right-click on the bt-WebFilter container object in the bt-WebFilter Management Console and select ‘Properties.’ (Alternatively, you can select the ‘bt-WebFilter’ container object and then select the ‘Properties’ option from the ‘Action’ menu of the Management Console.)

To Change the Location of the Storage.xml Files

  1. Locate the existing ‘Storage.xml’ file (Default location is ‘Program Files\Burst Technology\Shared\’ on 32 bit systems or ‘Program Files (x86)\Burst Technology\Shared\’ on 64-bit systems) and copy it to the new location.

  2. Open the bt-WebFilter Management Console

  3. Right-click on the bt-WebFilter container object in the bt-WebFilter Management Console and select ‘Properties.’ (Alternatively, you can select the ‘bt-WebFilter’ container object and then select the ‘Properties’ option from the ‘Action’ menu of the Management Console.)

  4. On the ‘Storage and Customer Options’ tab, enter the new location for the file

  5. Click ‘Apply’ then ‘OK’

To Enter the License Information in bt-WebFilter

  1. Right-click on the bt-WebFilter container object in the bt-WebFilter Management Console and select ‘Properties.’ (Alternatively, you can select the ‘bt-WebFilter’ container object and then select the ‘Properties’ option from the ‘Action’ menu of the Management Console.)

  2. On the ‘Storage and Customer Options’ tab, enter the following information:

    1. Registration Key

    2. Name

    3. License

    Note Note: The Registration Key, Name, and License information will be supplied to you from Burstek when you purchase the product.

  3. Click the ‘Check’ button to verify the license information is entered correctly

  4. Click ‘Apply’ then ‘OK’

  5. The number of days remaining in your license should appear next to the bt-WebFilter server name in the MMC.

To Configure License Email Alerts

Note Note: You can configure the email message to be sent at this time however you will need to complete the email configuration for bt-WebFilter before an email will be sent.

  1. Open the bt-WebFilter Management Console.

  2. Right-click on the bt-WebFilter container object in the bt-WebFilter Management Console and select ‘Properties.’ (Alternatively, you can select the ‘bt-WebFilter’ container object and then select the ‘Properties’ option from the ‘Action’ menu of the Management Console.)

  3. On the ‘Storage and Customer Options’ tab, click the ‘Advanced’ button.

  4. Click the ‘Add’ button to add an email address.

  5. In the ‘Name’ field type the name of the user who will be receiving the email.

  6. In the ‘Email’ field type the email address of the recipient.

  7. In the ‘Message’ box, type the alert text that will appear in the email. The text is a sample Burstek provides that you can remove.

    Note Note: If you use the Burstek default message and change your license at a later date, you must manually update the number of users specified in the email. The value that is displayed is based on the license at that point in time.

  8. Click ‘OK’

  9. Continue adding email addresses for other administrators that should be notified by completing steps 4-8.

  10. When completed, click ‘OK’ then ‘Apply’ and ‘OK’ on the ‘Storage and Customer Options’ tab.
