Server Proxy Configuration Page

bt-WebFilter Standalone contains a built-in proxy server and can be configured via this tab.

To Configure the Proxy Settings

  1. Right-click on the bt-WebFilter container object in the bt-WebFilter Management Console and select ‘Properties’. (Alternatively, you can select the ‘bt-WebFilter’ container object and then select the ‘Properties’ option from the ‘Action’ menu of the Management Console.

  2. Select the ‘Proxy Options’ tab

  3. In the ‘Common Options’ section, enter the port you want to use for the proxy or accept the default. (Unless you have another application that specifically uses port 8080, the default port is preferred.)

  4. If your router or gateway device requires IP traffic to be received on a different port other than the default port 80, click the ‘Advanced’ button and enter the required ‘Outbound TCP port.’ (In most environments this is not necessary. If you are unsure of what this value should be, we recommend not modifying this value.)

  5. In the ‘Authentication’ section, configure the following options:

    1. Ask unauthenticated users for identification: selecting this option will force NTLM authentication with the Proxy Server and allow you to filter users based on their Active Directory names

    2. Basic with this domain: selects the domain that should be used for authentication

    3. Integrated: with this option users are not presented with a separate login prompt if they are logged on with their domain account. The browser or application being used must support this type of authentication otherwise a login box may be displayed
