To Configure Automatic Updates for the Burstek Control List
Control List Automatic Updates Tab
  1. Right-click on the URL Control List container object in the bt-WebFilter Management Console and select ‘Import.’ (Alternatively, you can select the ‘URL Control List’ container object and then select the ‘Import’ option from the ‘Action’ menu of the Management Console.)

  2. On the ‘Common Information’ tab, select the ‘Check for updates via Internet’ and make sure the correct URL is in the ‘World Wide Web Location’ field. (For the current location please check our website at http://www.burstek.com)

Note Note: Selecting the ‘Download and save updates to local path’ enables you to save the definition file so that it can be used by independent Burstek Applications. For example, if you have several bt-WebFilter Servers in different locations or you have a separate bt-LogAnalyzer server and you do not want to replicate settings or share the URL Control List between the applications, you could download the update file to a shared location to be used by the other servers preventing the need for them to download directly.

  3. Click on the ‘Automatic Updates’ tab

  4. Place a checkmark in the ‘Enable Automatic Updates option’ box

  5. Set the Frequency options for when the Automatic Updates should occur:

    1. Automatically download and access updates

      1. At: specify the time that the updates should occur

      2. Every day: select this option if the downloads should occur every day (Recommended)

      3. Every week on: select the day of the week the updates should occur on

      4. Every month on: select the day of the month the update should occur on

      5. From the following URL: The download URL for the Automatic Update. (For the current location please check our website at http://www.burstek.com)

    2. Run Automatic Updates as: This option may be needed if bt-WebFilter is behind another proxy server that requires authentication. The login and password will allow the Run Automatic Update downloader to authenticate and pass through the device. If the proxy server allows anonymous access or there is no upstream proxy, these fields can be left blank.

      1. Login: username to be supplied for upstream proxy authentication

      2. Password: password to be supplied for upstream proxy authentication

Note Note: Clicking ‘OK’ in step 6 below will present a prompt asking: ‘Do you wish to download updates immediately?’ You can click ‘Yes’ and a bt-WebFilter will attempt to download the latest control list definition file and update automatically. If you prefer to allow the application to update via its normal schedule, simply click ‘No’.

  6. Click ‘OK’
